Privacy Policy
Effective July 25, 2026
CouchCTRL is designed for local-network control of your own Windows gaming PC. We do not operate an account system, advertising service, analytics service, or cloud backend for the app.
Information stored by the iPhone app
The app may store the following information locally on your device:
- The Windows Companion network address
- A pairing token issued by your Windows Companion
- Your device name and Demo Mode preference
- An optional Wake-on-LAN MAC address and broadcast address
- Recent in-app activity used to explain the last action
This information is used to connect to and control the Windows PC you configure. CouchCTRL does not send it to the developer.
Information stored by the Windows Companion
The companion may store the following information on your Windows PC:
- Display and audio configuration
- Desktop restore snapshots
- Pairing tokens for approved devices
- Local diagnostic logs
This information is stored under
%LOCALAPPDATA%\CouchControl on the Windows PC.
Local-network communication
CouchCTRL communicates directly with the Windows Companion on your local network. Remote mouse gestures are sent as cursor, click, drag, and scroll commands. Wake-on-LAN sends a network packet to the address you configure. These commands are not sent to or stored by the developer.
Data collection and tracking
CouchCTRL does not collect personal data, use advertising identifiers, track you across apps or websites, or sell personal information. The current version does not include third-party advertising, analytics, or crash-reporting SDKs.
Children’s privacy
CouchCTRL does not knowingly collect personal information from children or from any other user.
Changes to this policy
If CouchCTRL’s data practices change, this page will be updated with a revised effective date.
